Beach House has finally released some shirts for you, the lover of Beach House, to purchase and wear and wash and then wear again. Hooray for re-usable clothing!
Purchase at their new online store for $22 and become the talk of the town. This is truly a teen dream fulfilled! (sorry)
OMG I heart this with all my soulz (I have multiple soulz, probs).
Anyways, Beach House is the latest “thing” to get me kind of depressed about the world and what not. I’m starting to really have trouble getting over the fact that a video such as this can have such a moving effect on me while the majority of other similar economic status humans* could care less about this and probably disregard it as rubbish. Is Beach House actually terrible? Should I be getting more into Fergie? Does Victoria Legrand actually have no attractive qualities about her and should be ignored?
In any case, if you want to purchase the worst album of 2k10, Teen Dream is out tomorrow.
*Obviously I am not depressed that the poor and oppressed of places such as Haiti could care less about Beach House. By no means do think they have much much more important things to worry about than whether Teen Dream will be the best album of 2k10.
Beach House’s single, “Norway,” is the iTunes Free Single of the Week right now which apparently is a horrible fact to people who still use Apple’s digital download service. The song, which is featured on our home page’s left sidebar and in my opinion will be one of the best songs of the year, is currently sitting at a 2 out of 5 stars rating with almost 500 reviews.
Shows what I know! I suppose the argument can be made that Beach House’s fan base stopped using iTunes when they were still in middle school (or never if they are old timers) and therefore their voice is not being heard, but if a song is really great why would a song need to be so reliant on only a certain demographic? Has our demographic succumbed to the groupthink of Stereogum/Pitchfork for too many years and are now so out of touch that we listen to rubbish?
Was Merriweather Post Pavilion the worst album of 2k9?
Was The E.N.D. by The Black Eyed Peas the best album of 2k9? It certainly sold well in the Circuit Buymarts! Does the fact that I had to add the clarification “by the Black Eyed Peas” because the readers of this site probably had no idea what “The E.N.D.” was (I certainly had no clue) mean we all know nothing about good music? Are we noobz?
Should we buy into Ke$ha stock? Would that be a good investment into our future?
So Beach House, who I recently saw perform at the NorVa, and in my opinion are the most underrated band on the planet right now (on the whole planet, I assure you!), just announced they are planning to release a follow-up to Devotion which they will call Teen Dream.
The record is planned to be released on January 26, 201o and will feature, obviously, some of the amazing songs they have been performing on their recent tour with Grizzly Bear. The “problem” with Beach House songs has always been their lack of ability to go anywhere great past their beautiful “first gear” melodies. Their new songs, however, seemed to explode right off the stage when I saw them live, going into “second gear” and even “third gear” sometimes (so many stick shift references for someone who knows little of cars and clearly nothing of how to write metaphors past an elementary level).
So I am excited! Best album of the year, maybe. January will certainly be a huge month with Vampire Weekend’s Contra coming out on January 12th. Exciting indeed.
Anyways, here is the track listing for Teen Dream…
01 Zebra
02 Silver Soul
03 Norway
04 Walk in the Park
05 Used to Be
06 Lover of Mine
07 Better Times
08 10 Mile Stereo
09 Real Love
10 Take Care
And here is an mp3 from Beach House’s last album Devotion…
Yep. I bought it. Just four dollars, ninety-nine cents, and the dignity points I’d been saving for a rainy day. But the thing is, of course I had to buy it. A Grizzly Bear/Victoria Legrand collaboration and Thom Yorke songs I wouldn’t be able to get elsewhere? Sure this album may destroy Grizzly Bear and Bon Iver much like the Garden State soundtrack almost destroyed The Shins, but I mean, still. Still. You know, and what not.
Anyways, here are some people who knew better than me and know what’s up in general about this soundtrack.
Greedy a** holes indeed.
