About a month ago we mentioned that Converse was bringing rapper Kid Cudi, Bethany Cosentino (lead singer of Best Coast), and Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij together for another entry in their “Three Artists, One Song” campaign (previously responsible for “My Drive-Thru”). Since then, the single, called “All Summer”, was released as a free download on the Converse site. We now have a nice little video to accompany it:
Converse’s “Three Artists, One Song” campaign (previously responsible for “My Drive-Thru”, which featured Santigold, Julian Casablancas, and Pharrell) is set to release a new single, this time with rapper Kid Cudi, Bethany Cosentino of Best Coast, and Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend. The as-yet unnamed track will be released as a free download in July, with a music video to follow.
When not doing that, they found the time to post the album art for their upcoming third record:
They also posted the back cover art, which is equally amazing:
In non-Arcade Fire news, Vampire Weekend got all Louis XIV-vacays-in-Cali on us in their new video for “Holiday”:
Lastly, the new albums from LCD Soundsystem, the Black Keys, and Band of Horses all debuted in the Billboard Top 10 today. The mainstreamization of indie bands continues…
The next single from Vampire Weekend‘s Contrawill be Giving Up The Gun. The single has a truly inspired video to go with it, featuring a plethora of household names, such as Jake Gyllenhaal and Joe Jonas, in a game of tennis. The combination of stars seems a little strange, but makes for very entertaining viewing as you see each and every one of them cleaned up by a very energetic redhead.
The song itself is definitely suited to its partnering video, due to its use of slamming percussion sections, occasional smattering of glockenspiel and brilliant lyrical input. The song is one of the standout tracks from Contra, and definitely deserves to have such a brilliant, if strange, video.
Picture Above: Thanks to Vampire Weekend, the horchata business is booming. Too bad one of Vampire Weekend’s songs wasn’t called Conan…and speaking of that…
Lady GaGa collapses! Oh no! She seems like she will be alright though…It’s weird, because I just assumed she wasn’t human and transcended physical ailments.
