Vampire Weekend on MTV’s Unplugged. So that exists. Also nice acoustic guitar in the cage on the back wall to increase the aesthetic “coolness” of the stage, MTV! Good work.
This doesn’t even look ironic…so it looks like these hipsters would die in Brooklyn as well. But in the case the hipsters did end up surviving, perhaps one of these things would be able to finish them off.
So I’ve been listening to the highly anticipated, both by myself and the army of blogs and what not, sophomore effort by Vampire Weekend, Contra, and I am getting pretty upset! This album, for the most part, sounds like a soulless default ringtone! And default ringtones are lame! Every single song, except for “Cousins” which is actually great, seems to have a fairly good base, but is completely ruined on the production side. Songs such as “Diplomat’s Son” sound like they were made in FruityLoops or Garageband by the kid you thought was so musically inspired in middle school but then later realized anyone can make random bass and drum noises sound “meh.” Continue reading…
